As some of you may recall from last month, I was a little apprehensive about the release of my first issue of NHS (Ninja High School). The previous fans of the book were bristling with resentment about "the new artist", and even my publisher was unsure that I'd be able to make the grade (thanks for the vote of confidence, guys...). But Robby and I knew we'd be able to pull it off, so we proceeded forward regardless of the bad mojo being flung our way.

The release date came and went, and I fearfully awaited the barrage of hate mail that I was sure would come. I waited, and waited, checking the various message boards and forums for some sort of jab. Oddly enough, none came. It was quite anti-climactic. Even stranger was the fact that people actually liked it enough that they were buying several copies a piece.

So, in surviving my first issue, my publisher has given us the green light to keep going, and I'll even be taking over on the covers soon. So yay! ^_^

In the few days after I finished my deadline, I still couldn't rest. I had to catch up on all the freelance work I'd had to postpone due to being sick, including two commissions that were intended as Xmas gifts. (AKA: I couldn't procrastinate.) Today is the first day I've had off, and silly me, what do I spend it doing? Updating my website of course... yes, FREE work.
